Identity Day
Identity Day is on November 27th. Please start planning your display. You have this Friday and next Friday to work on this. This is your chance to be like an orca and tell us about yourself!
(see below for more information)
GRA/Kindness Day:
In our book, Front Desk, Mia has been writing a lot of letters and lists. One of her letters is a thank you note showing appreciation for a tip that she received. Think of something nice that someone has done for you (this could be recent or it could have happened a while ago) and write them a thank you note. Bring the thank you note to class on Monday.
This video can help you get started with the structure of your letter: https://youtu.be/lrIDfqF_8I4
The example in the video is very short. Your letter should be longer with more details, like Mya’s letter (I have included it in this home learning package).
Blogging:
Write a blog post about your Genius Hour project. Tell us all about your chosen topic and include information about what you accomplished on Wednesday and what your plan is for next Wednesday?
Then look through some of the older blog posts that your classmates have written and write 5 different, thoughtful comments.
**Think about the information that you learned about blogging, commenting, and being on the internet!!
November 27th ~Identity Day -- Share your Passion!
“It’s like a whole school Show & Tell day!”
How do I plan for this?

November 27th ~Identity Day -- Share your Passion!
“It’s like a whole school Show & Tell day!”
How do I plan for this?
- Brainstorm some things you are passionate about (with your parents).
- Choose one topic you would like to share with us at school.
- Between now and Nov. 27th, plan out what you are going to bring and how you are going to display it (needs to fit on your desk).
- On Nov. 27th (Or earlier if your teachers wishes), bring in your display/items so that it’s ready for the Big Day!
- On Nov. 27th, students will get an opportunity to set up their display.
- Students will then alternate between going and looking at other students’ passions and proudly displaying/answering questions about their own (not a formal speech).
- Will my child be assessed on this project? No! The assessment they will receive is purely participation. The focus is not on assessment, but more on sharing their passion and getting to know their peers and school community better!
- Will my child get time in class to work on their display? Teachers will provide discussion/thinking time to generate ideas and answer any questions your child may have. Planning and preparing is to be done at home independently or with the support of parents/caregivers.
